Kevin was born and raised in the area of Sumter, SC. He grew up hearing a wide variety of music from country to classical, from church hymns to hard rock. Early favorites included John Denver, The Alan Parsons Project, and Johann Sebastian Bach. A little later, everything changed when he discovered the world of progressive rock. The music of Yes, Kansas, Pink Floyd, ELP, King Crimson and more became the catalyst that drove him to no longer be content to just listen to music...He felt on overwhelming desire to create it. Through the 1990s Kevin worked at learning guitar, bass, keyboards, and mandolin, all the while searching for like-minded musicians to work with.

The first serious musical collaboration begin in 1997 when Kevin and drummer Rick Walker formed Farpoint, a progressive/art rock band that combined the organic, acoustic qualities of folk with the complex, experimental nature of prog. Kevin and Rick not only shared many musical influences, but also a shared ideology that music should be positive in influence and spiritually uplifting. This led to a musical partnership that has now lasted nearly three decades. Through many trials and challenges, and numerous lineup changes, Farpoint has played scores of live shows and released 7 studio albums of original music, two independently released live albums, and several digital singles.

Over the years Kevin has been a part of several other bands, including the folk-rock duo Wateree, rock cover band Iron Soul, pop/rock cover band Neon Candy, folk duo October Layne, folk duo From the Morning, Christian folk duo Gracefully Broken, progressive rock supergroup Greyfeather, praise and worship band First Glimpse, acoustic trio Mercy's Hand, and, most recently, folk rock band The Green Swamp Collective. Most of these groups have released music in various forms. He has also performed in several stage musicals, including Little Shop of Horrors and Godspell. Additionally, Kevin is currently the worship leader at First Church of God in Sumter, SC.

Kevin's first solo work, the instrumental single "Southern Exposure," was released in September of 2014, and his second solo single, "Hunter's Guitar," was released in December of 2014. Several other solo single releases followed over the next 10 years, as well as STRINGS OF LIGHT, an album of instrumental guitar duet Christmas Carols recorded with Sam Sanders.

February, 2020 saw the release of a project long in the works: I SHOULD HAVE BEEN HOME YESTERDAY: CELEBRATING THE MUSIC OF JOHN DENVER. This album features 15 beloved John Denver songs, covered by Kevin and several of his bands, along with a few other friends.

Currently Kevin is gigging regularly as a solo act, and has several different recording projects in the works, including new solo material, new original music with a couple of other projects, some recording and mixing for various local (and not so local) artists, and lots more... Stay tuned!
